I guess the last time the term "grounded" was used in my house, along with  "you" and "are" was when I was in the first grade.  I was heading back to class from the restroom when that dumb Tyler kid told me to take the long way to class with him for whatever reason.  I was a very impressionable child, so I did.  A teacher/counselor hybrid found me and took me back to my class, telling my teacher I was "wandering around."  I was not wandering around, thank you very much!  I was simply coming back to class with some moronic peer.  There's a fine-line difference.  Anyway, Mrs. Murphy moved my clip from green to red and wrote a note to my mom.  I stuffed that note in my green backpack and didn't show it to her for AGES.  I even remember walking in the door after getting off the bus and lying when she asked me how my day had been.  She found it at least two weeks later as I had failed to discard the incriminating note.  She grounded me from television for a week, without realizing how impressionable I really was!!  Everyone used to tell her that I was smart, and she knew I was something, but it was probably hard to believe when I used to totally screw up those stupid work packets in clas.  Time management was another problem for me, as those work packets were ridiculously time-consuming.

What I've learned/decided:
  • I did lots of moronic things as part of my impressionability.
  • I'm not proud of having been so impressionable.
  • But I'm not so impressionable anymore!  It sure did take a long time though.
  • I talked a lot when I was little.  Most of my teachers found this endearing, except for Mrs. Murphy, who gave me a "U" for unsatisfactory in conduct!  And she moved my clip to red one time when I said "Shut up" to some moron who had it coming anyway, but BOY!  If she could hear the language that those first grade classmates use NOW, she'd be sorry she ever moved that dang clip.
  • I don't fail unnecessarily anymore.
  • First grade was just not a good year for me.  Second grade was way better because that's when I met my best friend and they finally let me into Gifted (I had scored well on the Gifted test in Kindergarten, but everyone had said I wasn't mature enough.  I will admit that this lack of maturity still parties like it's 1991 in Kamna-land).
  • If I remind my mom now of this entire ordeal, she refuses to believe it, which is fine by me, but it's simply interesting how my entire first grade year just seems to pass her by.

Today, I got up really early to get to my doctor's appointment early enough so I wouldn't have to wait for too long. Turns out I was a full week early for this doctor's appointment.  Oops.  It's evidently impossible for me to keep up with the date during the summer!

Once Mom and I figured that out, we decided to go shopping because we didn't really feel like going home.  I've never been inside a clothing store before 9 a.m., so this was like a dream come true!  When I grow up, I plan to be one of the crazies who gets up at 4 a.m. to go shopping for Christmas!  I must say that I would have had a more epic time if Kohl's were not having a buy-one-get-one-free sale.  That sounds completely backwards, but I completely dislike buy-one-get-one-free sales.  I KNOW you just double the price and try to force me into buying two of the same exact thing in different colors! Nice try, but I recognize what's worth $34 and what's REALLY only worth <$17.  Now that I think of it, Kohl's isn't very good with the whole sale concept - I mean, it does have sales every single day, but they're not very enticing.  For example, the ad will say, "Get $10 off when you spend $100 or more using your Kohl's charge card!" and then include a ridiculously long list of items in the store that do not apply!  Still, I end up at Kohl's regularly anyway, but it isn't for the sales.

I love it when grocery stores have free samples!  Today, Dad and I tried mango sorbet and some Greek pasta salad.  The mango sorbet was ridiculously good, and we ended up going into the freezer section of BJ's to buy it in bulk (this is what happens when Mom is not around to monitor our purchases)!  The pasta salad was pretty good, but it's probably one of those foods that you can only have in limited amounts without getting tired of it because it's pretty garlic-y.  All I know is that the sorbet lady knew that Dad and I are the masters of buying all sorts of junk food when Mom doesn't come with us, hehe.

I should have applied to Notre Dame just so I could hear Mitt Romney or Bobby Jindal give a speech at my graduation in 4 years.  Either that, or magically convince one of them to come to Georgia Tech's commencement in either 2013 or 2014.  That would be awesome!

I was tagged in this thing on Facebook, so I'm also posting it here.

Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you.
  1. I could live off of Taco Bell.  Every time I go, I deliberate for a whole day about what to get, and then end up getting a seven-layer burrito and a Crunch Wrap Supreme.
  2. I'm going to Georgia Tech in Fall 2009, and I'm majoring in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (and maybe minoring in International Affairs).  I'm super-mega-ultra excited!
  3. I want to work for the United Nations one day.  After that, if I feel like running for President of the United States, I'll totally do it.
  4. Currently, my favorite Indian celebrity is Bobby Jindal.  He's the best (and only) Indian conservative ever, besides my dad.
  5. I like George W. Bush.
  6. My best friend and I like to give people code names.  Currently, the theme of these names is Greek mythology.
  7. I used to think flipping open a flip phone never got old, but now I have a phone that slides open and closed, and it REALLY. NEVER. GETS. OLD.
  8. My goal in life is to be able to beatbox. I practice by making pseudo-doo-wop noises in class.
  9. I love Harry Potter.  I've never read Twilight, so I have no real opinion except that he is CEDRIC DIGGORY before he's Edward Cullen.
  10. I like to write ridiculously long Facebook statuses (stati?) about nothing in particular.
  11. I'm unnecessarily competitive (at least in my head).
  12. I sing random Hindi songs very loudly when I drive.
  13. I get road rage when I'm hungry or have to go to the bathroom.
  14. I can't remember anything without my planner.  One time, I lost it, and I forgot whether Christmas was on the 25th or the 26th!
  15. My brother is engaged.  I have no freaking clue when the wedding is, but it's going to be awesome!
  16. White cheddar cheese popcorn is like God in packaged snack food form.
  17. I call my mother "mom," "maternal unit," "madre," "mombot," "mommy," "mominator," and "mummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy," and she responds to all of them.
  18. I understand Hindi by ear.  I sort of speak it, but it's ALL grammatically incorrect, I'm sure.  I'd like to be able to read/write in Hindi because English signs/billboards in India are rather outrageous.  I saw one that said, "OBESITY SURGERY."  It made me LOL.
  19. Fridays are the best things that happened to this world.  I came up with the best song ever for Fridays a million years ago, and it's called "The Friday Song," and it's awesome!
  20. I like to watch mindless cartoons like Spongebob Squarepants and Fairly Oddparents and Ed Edd 'N' Eddy because I don't want to think about why something is funny.
  21. Otherwise, my favorite shows are Scrubs, The Office, and Indian Idol.
  22. For some reason, I think that every T.V. character that is a janitor is the best character on the show.
  23. I used to play Neopets ALL THE FREAKING TIME, and that's an understatement.
  24. When I was little, I read books by Northern authors, and I used to wonder what in God's name soda and pop were supposed to be.
  25. I am currently avoiding my AP Biology lab report.

Before, the problem was that you would think TOO much before saying something and then miss the chance to say it altogether.

Now, you don't think at ALL before saying stuff, and end up regretting at least two sentences per day.

What the heck.  My brain-to-mouth filter is malfunctioning.

Well, tomorrow's the last first day of my secondary education.  The next time I'm completely and totally free, I'll be a high school graduate and rising insertsupercoolcollegehere freshman.

This year, I want to be a strong leader.  I understand that some people value my presence and opinion, and I want to make use of that fact.

This year, I want to think what I want to think and not what pleases other people or what everyone else thinks.  I understand that going along with the crowd is wonderful for my reputation as a kind person, but sometimes I have to do things for myself.

This year, I want to be an effective worker.  I understand that I have done things wrong the first time in the past, and I need to start learning from those mistakes.

This year, I want to understand myself.  I understand that there are things that tick me off and things that make me happy, and I want to know who I am so I don't accidentally lose myself when I go to college.

This year, I want to be everything I ever wanted to be.  I understand that this is the climax of my secondary education, and I want everything I ever dreamed of achieving and winning to come true.

One of my goals for the upcoming school year is to end my procrastinatory (it's a word, I swear) habits, especially before college hits!  However, I'm having one heck of a time concentrating on my AP Biology summer homework because Facebook calls me every twenty seconds.  It's so bad that I can't even concentrate on typing this entry!
